Canadian lottery operators continue to expand casino gambling options

Loto-Quebec and British Columbia Lottery Corporation have been relatively successful with their online casino options. Now, two more lottery operators in Canada have decided the time was right to get involved, as well.  Evolution, previously known as Evolution Gaming, which offers live casino games to those two entities, has signed two agreements to supply the games to both the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) and the Canadian Bank Note Company (CBN) lottery operators.

Six Evolution live dealer games are now live on AGLC, including the gaming company’s popular Infinite Blackjack, Roulette and Ultimate Texas Hold’em options.  Over the next few months, more Evolution titles will be added to the operator’s PlayAlberta.ca online casino.  The platform is available across Alberta, offering real-money gambling for both desktop and mobile devices.

Asserts Evolution Commercial Director Jeff Millar, “The launch of AGLC is another proud moment for Evolution in the rollout of our services in Canada.  We are committed to delivering enhanced online gaming choice and entertainment for Albertans in the most exciting way possible with our world-leading games portfolio.”

CBN hasn’t yet introduced any titles, but is working on it.  The lottery operator is finalizing the approvals it needs in each of its jurisdictions, and expects to be able to launch in the near future.  According to Craig Bascombe, CBN’s president of lottery systems and chief financial officer, states, “We are really pleased to be working with the market leader in Live Casino. Given Evolution’s track record in Europe and North America, and also their solutions for the Canadian lotteries, they were the obvious partner for this project.  We feel sure that Evolution’s rich and varied mix of online casino and entertainment-style games will be very popular indeed with our many millions of lottery players.”

In addition to running a lottery and, soon, online casino games, CBN is also Canada’s primary supplier of physical money.  It has supplied the bank notes to the Bank of Canada since 1935 and is responsible for systems and management services for government-led lotteries, as well as charitable gaming operators.  CBN also provides passports, drivers licenses, biometric solutions and more.

Evolution has a live studio in Vancouver that will be used for the gaming options.  As gambling continues to gain in popularity across North America, the company has begun to dedicate more resources to live gaming options.  In addition to the Vancouver studio, it has two in the US, in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with a third planned for Michigan.  The company is also preparing to introduce a crossover product that will combine eSports and live casino action, but hasn’t yet provided details on the product.

Live online casino games are becoming hugely popular.  While virtual casinos have seen an uptick in activity due to COVID-19, most gamblers missed interacting with live dealers.  Live online casinos bridge the gap and make them an ideal alternative for most casino enthusiasts.
