Wrote the DB team: \u201cAt present, we believe Penn, the Company we covered since 2011, and recommended as a Buy from 2011 through January of 2020, is just a sideshow, a sideshow to a wildly volatile, incredibly libelous, and misleading social media frontman.\u201d The DB team and Portnoy have form; previously the Barstool head honcho posted highly contentious comments <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stoolpresidente\/status\/1269989317226704896?s=20\" rel=\"\">in June 2020<\/a> after the analysts slapped a Sell recommendation on Penn National\u2019s shares. The irony was probably lost on Portnoy\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DDTGFans1\/status\/1270073873481043971?s=20\" rel=\"\">social media defenders<\/a>, but the new change in recommendation was technically an upgrade from a Sell to a Hold.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plain-speaking CEO award<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Winner:<\/strong> <strong>Full House CEO Daniel Lee<\/strong> on temporary casino structures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><em>Talking about the need for a temporary \u2018sprung\u2019 construction should it win its Illinois casino license bid, <a href=\"https:\/\/wagersearningsmore.substack.com\/p\/9-nov-ny-nine-get-to-make-it-there\" rel=\"\">Full House CEO Daniel Lee<\/a> showed he was fully on top of the details: \u201cTurns out there is a company called Sprung Structures owned by a family whose last name is Sprung: who knew?\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Runner-up:<\/strong> <strong>Aspire Global CEO Tsachi Maimon<\/strong>\u2019s sales technique<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><em>Aspire Global CEO Tsachi Maimon\u2019s was notably candid on his company\u2019s Q3 call when he claimed that the US B2B market beyond the top brands &#8211; and notably among the tribal groups &#8211; would be very fruitful for Aspire because they \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/wagersearningsmore.substack.com\/p\/4-nov-mgm-hearts-ny\" rel=\"\">don\u2019t have a clue how to operate digital<\/a>.\u201d \u201cThe tribal casinos, tiers 2, 3 or 4, in a few years from now Aspire Global will be their biggest supplier,\u201d he added, perhaps rather hopefully. <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>A reverse ferret to\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Incoming CEO at <strong>Wynn Resorts, Craig Billings<\/strong>, who <a href=\"https:\/\/wagersearningsmore.substack.com\/p\/15-nov-spac-off-wynn-seeks-online\" rel=\"\">called a halt<\/a> both to the merger transaction with <strong>Austerlitz Acquisition Corp.<\/strong> and the marketing spending spree. \u201cThe current combination of large-scale brand spend, performance marketing spend, and customer bonuses that we see in the marketplace does not drive unit economics that meet our return requirements,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The overused analogy award<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Winner:<\/strong> Flywheel effect. We&#8217;re looking at you Entain, Fubo.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Runner-up:<\/strong> One-stop-shop. As employed by GAN, Endeavor, Sportradar.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The memorial CEO desk tidy award goes to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Richard Carter, CEO at Bragg Gaming<\/strong>, when the games provider released its results on November 8 showing revenues rising 9.9%. He was gone <a href=\"https:\/\/wagersearningsmore.substack.com\/p\/17-nov-so-thats-where-the-money-went\" rel=\"\">less than a week later<\/a>, when the company said its \u201ccontinued strong growth has yet to be reflected in the company&#8217;s public market performance, and the Board has determined that a search for a new CEO is required.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The \u2018surprise, surprise\u2019 regulatory hurdle of the quarter award:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Joint winners:<\/strong> the new regulatory regimes in Germany and <a href=\"https:\/\/wagersearningsmore.substack.com\/p\/1-oct-weekend-edition-no16\" rel=\"\">Holland<\/a>.
